About Amina

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Amina Robinson started acting while attending Temple University as a theater major. She later went on to earn a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Acting from Temple's classical training program.



Since graduation Amina has been blessed to perform on Broadway (Mamma Mia,Godspell), as well as tour the country in Broadway National Tours (Mamma Mia, Little Shop of Horrors). She has performed in various regional productions including shows at the Williamstown Theater Festival, Philadelphia Theater Company, Baltimore CenterStage, and was nominated for an AUDELCO award for work as Juliet in "Romeo and Juliet" at the Classical Theater of Harlem.



While stage was her first love Amina branched out and began working in television and film. She has done numerous national commercials for companies including Truth Anti-Smoking, Walmart, KFC, and Macy's, as well as voice-over work for Verizon, Con Edison, USAA, KFC, and others. She has guest starred in many television series as well, including "Law and Order,"  "Smash," " The Electric Company," and "Mercy," in addition to a recurring role on Showtime's hit show "Nurse Jackie." 



The highlight of her work in film has been her role as Jermaine in the Oscar Award winning film "Precious."



In addition to acting, Amina has kept her love for teaching alive and well. She has worked with ages 5 through adult in many aspects of acting training. She has taught for Temple University, Freedom Repertory Theater, Harlem School of the Arts, Burn Brae Performing Arts Camp, Theatre Circ, as well as conducted numerous independent workshops and classes.



Amina is also the founder of the 426 Project, an organization aimed at helping women and children in various creative ways.

Amina is currently producing and directing a web series addressing police abuse of power. More details to come!

Amina has been honored by Temple University with the Gallery of Success Award 2013.
